Entries will span all Pocket Monsters from the Black and White iterations, but unfortunately, if you want to learn about 'um all, you gotta' earn it. The app comes preloaded with 16 Pokémon, but the remainder must be unlocked by using SpotPass, scanning QR codes and trading with friends.
You may be thinking, "But Ashley, I don't have any friends because I spend all my free time with my Pokémans." Well, Ninty has you covered there, too. The Pokédex utilizes Augmented Reality, allowing you to place Pokémon in your pictures via the 3DS's camera – giving you at least 16 new "friends" to take Facebook photos with.
Since the app is coming to the 3DS, it goes without saying that you'll be able to view Pokémon in lush 3D, with full 360 degree rotation. The Pokédex with also feature bookmarking and filters to easily look up your favorites on the fly. Those intrigued by the thought of something new to collect will have to wait until the eShop launches later this month.
